Tom Chenault: All right, we’ve got Robert Skrob with us right now. He’s written a book called, “The Official Get Rich Guide to Information Marketing – Build a Million-Dollar Business Within 12 Months.” And for 13 years, Robert’s created and promoted trade associations and has consulted within that industry. So he’s basically one of those people that just teaches you how to get inside of niches and they’ve written a nice little book. I took a look at it. I tell you, you’ve done a nice job on that book. How are you, Robert?

Robert Skrob: I’m wonderful, thank you. I appreciate being on the show. It’s a great program.

Tom Chenault: Well, thank you very much. You wrote this book with a few guys and profiled a bunch of people and why did you do it?

Robert Skrob: Well, what I wanted to do is share with folks how they could breakaway from having to work for hours for dollars and instead use their knowledge that they could do in their consulting or even in their hobby; and turn that that into leverage by creating a product once and being able to sell it many times.

Tom Chenault: And so basically, what you do is you figure out something that you’re either good at, you’re interested in, you’re passionate about, you gather up all that information. And you gather up all that information, you figure out a way just to build a little bundle and sell it on the internet in a form of courses or something like that?

Robert Skrob: That’s exactly right. And it’s actually ironic that you had Ron Ianieri on the program this morning because he’s actually one of the information marketers that we profile in the book. As you know, we go through 30 different information marketers that have taken what they know and for instance, Ron has been an options trader on the floor for years and years, knows everything about it, ins and outs. And he’s created a website and has several products that he offers for sale and Ron has had a couple of seminars that where he brings in folks to learn how to do options training. And so what’s he’s able to do is he’s able to write a course and then sell that course many times to several different customers. And he doesn’t have to go do more work. So he’s able to leverage, not only be able to use this information on the market, invest himself and make money, but he can take that information too, and sell it to other customers that wanna learn how to trade options.

Tom Chenault: Robert, it’s a terrific idea. You know, there’s so many people who have a wealth of knowledge, don’t know where to start. Now if I buy your book, if I go to amazon listing and I get your book, is this gonna be kind of a how-to course for me so that I can disseminate all this vast knowledge that I’ve accumulated on some subject?

Robert Skrob: Yes, and what we’ve done is we take – we took, taken the 30 profiles so you can see how things have happened and folks do to build these businesses and then we’ve broken them into nine steps. So there are - we give an easy nine-step process to identify the market that you're looking for, step number two is to create the product. We kinda go through the different types of products, whether they’re audio programs, in-person seminars, or coaching, you know, life coaching is very popular now. We teach you how to identify the customers that you interested in buying your product and then the next step is how to sell them. And we really teach you from the beginning to end how you need to go from scratch to creating an information marketing business.

Tom Chenault: You know there’s so many people on the internet. I have an ad agency and we use Google Adwords and pay-per-click and that kinda stuff to attract customers. Does your book help people along those lines on how to break out from the crows on the internet?

Robert Skrob: Absolutely, we certainly do talk about the internet and it is a very powerful media that you should use. But we also talk about other marketing methods, you know. Don’t be so shy as to mention radio because there’s a lot of information marketers who are using radio as a powerful marketing method in order to reach their potential customers. And I’m sure you would advocate that method but then, also how to use magazines, TV and direct mail. So yes, internet is a good method to offer products but it’s just one of many.

Tom Chenault: Sure. I guess the thing I like the internet is because it doesn’t take a tremendous amount of capital whereas if you try to publish a book or something like, a lot of people might think they don’t have the money to self-publish, kinda get started. They just feel that they’re undercapitalized to get into one of these ventures.

Robert Skrob: Absolutely. And the internet is good. And there’s a lot of – some information marketers that we profile in the book that actually only publish information product on the internet. And so they might have a book that they actually have on a website and we talk about the software and things you would need to use to do this but they have – they created a little file and they put it up on the internet after they typed it up and then people can come, put in their credit card number, buy that book and the e-book goes out to them as an email. And so they don’t actually – you don’t even have to ship a book or handle a customer service call. They just put in their credit card and the software sends them the book electronically. And that is a very powerful model. But then there’s folks like Ron and other folks that we profile in the books, Scott Tucker who created a coaching program that he took it from – he has a coaching program where folks pay him to learn to learn how to market their mortgage brokerage business. And he has 180 customers that pay him $1500 a month to participate in his coaching program. And they receive all of the ads and things that they need in order to generate customers in their business. So the internet is powerful but we also go through a lot of other ways that you can package and sell information and make a lot of money.

Tom Chenault: Fantastic. And the name of the book?

Robert Skrob: Is “The Official Get Rich Guide Information Marketing.” It’s available at bookstores and also there’s so information, I don’t know if we wanna get folks so they can read about the book and not have to go to the bookstore.

Tom Chenault: Sure absolutely.

Robert Skrob: It’s at infomarketingbook.com. That’s all one word and we talk about all the – show you all the different profiles and tell you all about the book there as well.

Tom Chenault: All right, well thanks a lot for coming on the show. We appreciate it. We’ll catch you next time.
